7 Virgin Island Hot Spots to Explore Before the Summer’s Over

Check Out These Places in the Virgin Islands!

There’s still time to head down to the Virgin Islands this summer for an unconventional road trip– on the water. There’s nowhere quite like the Virgin Islands for island hopping. Where else can you have access to around 90 islands, islets, and cays to explore at your leisure, all in one trip? Try it for yourself and discover these 7 Virgin Islands traveler favorite hotspots.

Trunk Bay, St. John

Trunk Bay is widely known for its photogenic landscape. Take a boat over and enjoy the clear, calm waters and powdered-sugar beach. Trunk Bay has restrooms and showers on-site, plus rental options for snorkel gear and beach chairs. Pro tip: Get there early to avoid crowds.

The North Shore, St. John

Travel the North Shore Road to Peace Hill and hike to the ruins to take in breathtaking views. Afterward, you can hike out from the same parking area to Denis Bay. Or, if you want to learn more about the island, try taking a ranger-guided tour and get insight into local marine life, plant life, and wildlife.

Cruz Bay, St. John

Enjoy great food at Cruz Bay Landing. Grab some gnocchi at Extra Virgin Bistro, a Cruz Bay must eat. Go to High Tide for brunch (think  chicken and waffles and mimosas). It’s a quintessential St. John hangout. Or hit the Aqua Bistro for calamari and Mahi against a great ambiance.

St Thomas

Next up, head over to the island of St. Thomas. Stroll in and out of the shops of Charlotte Amalie, then grab lunch at a restaurant on the waterfront, like The Greenhouse.

British Virgin Islands

Devote a day to the BVI for island hopping at its best. Be sure to take advantage of great snorkeling en route – just ask for recommendations from your boat captain.

Jost Van Dyke

In Jost Van Dyke, hit up the Foxy’s Wooden Boat Regatta and sign the new pavilion. Enjoy Painkillers and kick back and chat with fellow patrons.

Check out White Bay for one of the most beautiful beaches in the BVI. Grab your favorite rum drink from one of the many beach bars and enjoy the breathtaking views. Play corn hole, relax and make friends. Want a fun, unique experience? Eat at Hendo’s Hideout. It’s a laid-back environment where diners often enjoy shared conversations around the bar over lunch.

Tortola

Try Smuggler’s Cove of Long Bay for a gorgeous private beach and excellent snorkeling. Visit Josiah’s Bay for great surfing and a beautiful powdery sand beach. You can rent a surfboard on the beach and take an unforgettable surf lesson.

Virgin Gorda

Virgin Gorda offers beautiful beaches, plus plenty of places to grab food and drinks. Try Savannah Bay, an isolated beach with a gorgeous coastline and soft sand. Visit Devil's Bay National Park for lovely beaches and stunning rock formations. Play in the tide pools and explore various trails, then head over to explore The Baths.
