And we’ve found that several places keep topping the list, time and again. That’s why this week, we’re highlighting Magens Bay, St. Thomas. Ah, Magens Bay. One of the Caribbean’s most popular and best-known beaches. Known by many cruise ship travelers as being the beach to hit up, there’s certainly no shortage of things here to get excited about here. Get the scoop on enjoying Magen’s Bay here.

What to Do

Relax in the surrounding beauty: Magens Bay is often referred to as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. From the swaying palm trees, the clear water, and the secluded pristine beach, to the unbeatable view, serenity is here. It’s no wonder so many of our visitors choose this destination to just sit back, relax, and take it all in.

Enjoy the water: The swimming is superb here. Since the beach is situated in a cove, the water is very calm, with a gradual slope in. Plus, the placid water makes it a perfect place to finally try out paddle boarding!

Dive into snorkeling: Bring cash if you want to rent snorkel gear and explore the vibrant marine life.

All-around convenience: This beach has picnic tables with shade if you choose to pack a lunch. Or, bring cash to enjoy the on-site lunch and drinks, or to rent chairs. Often someone will bring your drink right out to the water for you.

Things You Should Know:

There’s a per-person entry fee, so plan to have a bit of extra cash on hand.

Due to the popularity of this beach, it definitely draws a crowd. The crowds are typically only noticeable on days when cruise ships are docked.

And yes, there are bathrooms available at Magens.

Where to Eat:

After a full day at the beach, you can drive to downtown to Charlotte Amalie for some good eats. Try:

Beuchert's Beer Garden: Grab some strong drinks at this gem tucked away in an alley just off Main Street, at 17 Main Street. It’s a truly unique bar, situated in a historical setting. Enjoy the casual atmosphere and their claim to the World’s Best Margarita.

Amalia: This hideaway in the Old Town part of Charlotte Amalie feels like an outdoor café in Europe. It’s the perfect place for a romantic dinner or special occasion. Enjoy mouth-watering European eats, topped off with a sangria.

Greengos Caribbean Cantina: This is the place to go when you’re hankering for delicious Mexican pub style food. Head to Dronningens Gade street for delicious nachos or taquitos and house-made salsa, paired with a refreshing mango daiquiri.
